I have to be honest, watching my food cook inside the air fryer is too good to pass up.

Instead of building the entire appliance around a traditional basket, Ninja puts the heating system into a compact PowerPod that sits over a borosilicate glass cooking container. You cook in the glass container, eat from it if you want, put a lid on it, and move the leftovers directly into the refrigerator.

Amazon currently lists the Ninja Crispi with a 4.5 star rating from more than 7,000 ratings, and the listing showed more than 600 purchases during the previous week when we checked it.

What You Actually Get

The standard Ninja Crispi system includes the PowerPod heating unit, a four quart glass container, a smaller six cup glass container, two storage lids, crisper plates, and an adapter that allows the PowerPod to work with both container sizes.

There are four cooking modes: Air Fry, Max Crisp, Bake, and Recrisp. The system reaches up to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.

There is no giant base underneath everything. The glass container effectively becomes the air fryer.

That is the clever part.

A normal air fryer is something you cook with. The Crispi is closer to a cooking system. The same container can move from preparation to cooking to serving to storage without transferring the food between three different dishes.

For anyone who meal preps, cooks for one or two people, reheats leftovers frequently, or simply hates washing unnecessary dishes, that design is unusually practical.

The Glass Is More Than a Gimmick

Clear glass gives the Crispi an obvious advantage: you can actually see the food.

That sounds almost embarrassingly basic until you remember that most air fryers require pulling out the basket repeatedly to check whether your fries are pale, perfect, or thirty seconds away from becoming archaeological material.

The Crispi uses borosilicate glass containers that Ninja describes as free from PFAS, PTFE, and nonstick chemical coatings.

There is still a removable crisper plate inside when you want airflow underneath the food, but the main cooking chamber itself is glass. The containers and most removable components are also dishwasher safe. The PowerPod itself obviously is not.

Independent testing has found that the Crispi can produce strong browning and crisping across chicken, vegetables, fries, baked foods, and leftovers, while also making it easier to move food between cooking and storage.

"Recrisp" Might Be Its Best Feature

Air frying fresh food is useful. Rescuing yesterday's food may be even more useful.

Microwaves are excellent at making food hot. They are considerably less talented at making it good.

Pizza becomes soft. Fried food becomes damp. Roasted vegetables lose their texture. Anything breaded begins reconsidering its life choices.

The Crispi's Recrisp mode is specifically aimed at this problem.

Reviews of the Crispi have found the Recrisp function particularly useful for reheating complete leftovers without producing the rubbery texture associated with microwaving, although delicate vegetables can overcook if left too long.

That combination of storage and reheating may be the strongest argument for buying the Crispi instead of a conventional air fryer.

So Is the Ninja Crispi Worth Buying?

Yes.

The strongest reason to buy the Ninja Crispi is not that it produces magically different french fries. Plenty of good air fryers can crisp frozen food. Its advantage is that Ninja redesigned what happens before and after the cooking.
